It took a cataclysmic war against the Democratic south, 750,000 DEAD Americans and a cliffhanger passage of the 13^th amendment. The KKK were democrats. The slave owners Democrats. The Justices on the Supreme court who voted for Dredd Scott, Democrats. Southern Segregationists fighting civil rights-Democrats. The only support LBJ had for civil rights legislation came from Republicans in the congress, and he said he only did it to “con (Blacks) to voting Democratic. It worked. And now Democrats control our urban centers, devastating to Blacks. It is Democrats who fight school choice, denying poor blacks equal rights to a decent education for their kids. It is Republican Trump who got criminal justice reform, and has given blacks RECORD low unemployment. No wonder Trump’s Black support is steadily rising.
