For decades, many women faced obstacles that made it difficult for them to have both powerful careers and motherhood. Some women never had the opportunity to start the business of their dreams or to even get an education due to the balancing act of raising children and working to pay the bills. Politicians nationwide promised them a lot but delivered little.
Luckily, the times have changed. President Trump and his administration are shattering the glass ceiling for women domestically and globally, with Women for Trump taking that message across the nation. Here at home, women are thriving thanks to his smart policies. Since the 2016 election, six million new jobs have been added and more than half of them went to women. The unemployment rate for women is at its lowest level in six decades, and wage growth has been at least 3 percent for nearly a year.
The historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act signed by President Trump not only doubled the child tax credit but also delivered a tax cut of $2,000 to the average family of four last year. Thanks to these tax cuts, families were able to keep more of their hard earned income, meaning more money to save or spend on their food, clothes, sports, activities, travel, and more.
Furthermore, Ivanka Trump, along with the White House, has advocated for a paid family leave solution for the past few years. American families will soon be able to thank President Trump along with the Republican leadership for making this a reality, with bipartisan legislation recently introduced in the Senate utilizing tax credits to give parents six weeks of paid family leave to stay home and care for their newborn children.
In addition to paid family leave, President Trump launched the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative earlier this year. The original investment alone is $50 million and aims to reach more than 50 million women around the world by 2025. Women who have never had access to education, job training, or entrepreneurship will now have the ability to maximize their potential as a result of this new significant investment.
The focus on investment in women does not stop there. President Trump and his partners across the world recently announced the first of its kind Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative, a collaborative partnership that has dedicated $120 million toward women entrepreneurs and is expected to raise more than $1.6 billion in capital. More women pursuing business ownership and contributing to the economy will benefit all Americans.
On top of all of this, the White House has supported efforts to increase access for women to digital technology. President Trump has also signed bipartisan legislation to support women, including the Build Act, Women Peace and Security Act, and the Women Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment Act. Both here and abroad, women are benefiting from the policies and agendas set by President Trump and his administration on making the world a much better place for women to live and prosper.
