DANGEROUSLY LOW U.S. MILITARY STRENGTH FACING TRUMP ADMINISTRATION
Thanks to the disgraceful failures of the current administration’s foreign policy, some key factors regarding US military readiness face the new administration, including:
• Only 43% of the Marine Corps' aircraft are considered flyable
• In 1992, the Air Force was acquiring about 200 aircraft a year, while today that number is about 25
• The Air Force has a shortage of 700 pilots and 4,000 maintainers
• Next year, given current funding levels, the Navy will be able to meet only 56% of demand for aircraft carriers
• The Army currently is having to choose between being ready to defend the country today and defend it in the future
• The threat score, which measures our enemies' threat to our national interests, was raised from "Elevated" in the 2016 Index to "High" in the 2017 Index
